Greetings and God's blessings to all who reads this. My name is Patricia Hatton-Williams and I am a Type-II Diabetic, diagnosed when I was 42 years old which was 12 years ago. At the time, I weighed roughly 225 lbs., and only 5 ft 6 inches tall.

Although my diabetes is mainly caused by genetics, I read everything related to Diabetes and discovered that diet and exercise greatly reduces the risk associated with this disease. But as most who suffers with the disease knows that diet and exercise is a very broad suggestion and without the proper tools is almost impossible to achieve. So, a life-style change was necessary to achieve the results. I changed my way of thinking, my shopping habits, and my eating habits with the help of Action for Diabetes Look Ahead Program with Baylor College of Medicine.

In addition to walking about 5 miles a week, I reduced my carbohydrates intake to 45 grams per meal, almost totally eliminated beef from my diet, and started taking the stairs instead of the elevator, parking my car at the end of the parking lot and walking to work.

I am happy to say that I am maintaining a weight of 185 lbs, and my Hemoglobin A1C is now 6.3. My cholestorol and blood pressure is excellent. I am on insulin injections but my units have been greatly decreased. I have lost a total of 40 lbs., over a 6 year period but the amazing thing is I have not gained it back and continue to decrease the weight. My ideal weight goal is 150 lbs. So, Ihave 35 more to go. With God's grace and strength, I will obtain this goal.

Your sister in Christ,

Patricia Hatton-Williams
